Update Mechanism
Ghost Downloader fetches the latest release information from GitHub Releases on startup, compares version numbers, and shows an update dialog. After selecting an asset, GD executes the update package as a normal Task.
Troubleshooting Steps
Check Network Connectivity
Update checks require access to the GitHub API. If your network cannot reach GitHub directly, configure a proxy in Settings and restart the application.
Update Package Download Fails
The update package is downloaded like a normal Task, so it can hit the same network issues. Confirm the proxy settings are correct, or try reducing the number of threads.
Manual Update
If automatic updates keep failing, download the installer for your platform directly from GitHub Releases and install it over the existing installation.
Didn't get an update notification?
Check whether Settings → Application → Check for updates on startup is enabled.
